Anabel Hinojosa
Speech-Language Pathologist, SLP
I have been working at Hope Therapy Center for a few weeks. I graduated from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV)with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2015, followed by a master’s degree in 2017. As a new therapist it was important for me to complete my clinical fellowship year in a setting with supportive staff that truly care about their patient’s communicative needs and progress. I am blessed to have the opportunity to impact people’s lives through Hope Therapy Center.
For the short amount of time that I have been working here, I have learned so much about aural (re)habilitation, therapeutic techniques, and the way an outpatient rehabilitation works. This has been made possible with the amazing staff who is very knowledgeable and helpful, including my supervisor, Becky Wood.
I am a member of the Texas Speech Hearing Language Association (TSHA). Everyone deserves to have a voice in order to communicate thoughts, ideas and feelings. I have a strong passion for this field and for ensuring everyone has a means of communication. At Hope Therapy Center we work as part of an interdisciplinary team in order to maximize our patient’s communicative potentials. Although I am new to Hope, our patient’s make me feel right at home. I have enjoyed meeting them and I love when they teach me more sign language.
I am eager to attend continuing education courses and cochlear implant trainings to increase my knowledge in listening and spoken language strategies. I couldn’t be more thankful for this journey, and I know that it has only just begun!
