Speak
When a child is diagnosed with a hearing loss a family begins making decisions for their child and one of the biggest decisions is how the child and family will communicate together. There are several interventions to consider and at Hope we can help you understand better what your choices are. However, our philosophy is to not favor any one intervention strategy over another.
The development of technology over the past several years has provided greater options for those with hearing loss to access sound, that is, cochlear implants and digital hearing aids. This provides the child with access to spoken language as well.
Listening and spoken language strategies seek to improve speech perception, speech production, and spoken language by teaching a child to listen. At Hope, our Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) are trained in developing an auditory learning program for your child. We will work with you and your child to integrate talking and listening skills into all aspects of life.
